NETTLES HOMER IN FIFTEENTH SINKS TIGERS

In Detroit’s second fifteen inning game of the year, Graig Nettles homered off Aurelio Lopez(8-5) in the top of the 15th inning, giving the Yankees a 2-1 win over the Tigers.

It was Lopez’s second straight defeat. The game set several records including: Most double plays by one team, 5, Detroit; most strikeouts by one team, 17, New York, and most strikeouts by both teams, 27.

Fortunately, Baltimore lost again, their seventh straight setback.
