1983 Detroit Tigers Replay

August 15th. Kansas City 7 Detroit 6 10 innings

WRIGHT’S 10TH INNING ERROR LEADS TO DETROIT’S FOURTH STRAIGHT LOSS

Amos Otis singled off Dave Rozema(6-7) in the bottom of the tenth. Then Glenn Wright misjudged a ball off the bat of Frank White, sending Otis to third. One batter later, Onix Concepcion’s sacrifice fly won the game for the Royals, 7-6.

It was yet another tough loss for the Tigers, who have lost four in a row, and are now 3 games behind the Orioles in fourth place.

Frank White was an offensive stud for Kansas City. He had a single in the first, a three run homer in the fourth, a two run double in the seventh, and of course, he was the guy who hit the ball that Wright muffed, in the tenth.

Wright’s error was obviously costly, but he held his own at the plate, going 4-5 with a double. Enos Cabell also hit his seventh home run.

Detroit will go at it again today, with Dan Petry facing Bud Black.
