WILLIE MAYS AIKENS HITS TWO RUN BLAST TO BEAT SLUMPING TIGERS

Dan Petry(12-7) lost to Bud Black of the Royals, with Willie Mays Aikens’ eighth inning homerun, the big blow. Willie Wilson had a single and a triple.

Detroit couldn’t take advantage of good games by Alan Trammell, who had three singles; Glenn Wilson, who hit his fourth homerun; or Chet Lemon, who was 3-4 with a homer(14) and two doubles.

That’s the Tigers fifth straight loss.
