TIGERS END SIX GAME LOSING SKID WITH 8-3 WIN OVER MINNESOTA TWINS

Finally. After a six game drought, Detroit is back in the win column. They pounded out 15 hits, with Glenn Abbott(9-10) getting the win on the mound. Lou Whitaker had four hits, John Wockenfuss had three, and he and Alan Trammell both tripled. Chet Lemon hit his team leading fifteenth home run.

While Abbott got the win, he surrendered ten hits, including three solo home runs. He leads the team in that category, with 22 gopher balls.

Despite the win, the Tigers actually lost a bit of ground as Baltimore took both ends of a double header against Kansas City.
