Kirk Gibson’s sacrifice fly scored Glenn Wilson in the top of the eighth, and broke a 2-2 tie, as Detroit went on to defeat Toronto, 3-2.

Matt Wilcox(10-12) came away with the win; and Aurelio Lopez pitched two more innings of scoreless relief to notch his seventh save.

Lou Whitaker and Lance Parrish each had three hits. The series concludes today, with Glenn Abbott facing Dave Steib.
