September 9th. Game two: Milwaukee 4 Detroit 3
TIGERS WIN STREAK ENDS AS MORRIS FINALLY LOSES A DECISION
For the previous nine games, the Detroit Tigers have found themselves on the winning end, but that streak was halted in the second game of a double header, lost by the Tigers to the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-3.
Jack Morris(21-7), who had not lost a start since July 31st, end up on the short end of the stick when the Brewers scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to win it. Sadly, both runs were unearned, as a result of a two base error by Chet Lemon.
Morris got two quick outs after the miscue, but then Ted Simmons and Mark Brouhard hit back to back doubles to notch the victory.
Alan Trammell was 3-4 with a double and a walk, to end an 0-15 slump.
Detroit will get after the Brewers for the third game today. On a good note, Baltimore lost, so the Tigers pick up a half game.
