1983 Detroit Tigers Replay

September 11th. Gm# 143 Detroit 3 Milwaukee 2

TRAMMELL’S HOME RUN DIFFERENCE IN TIGERS 3-1 WIN OVER BREWERS

Alan Trammell(13), who had not homered since August 14th, did so against Milwaukee’s Mike Caldwell in the very first inning, and his two run shot proved to be enough for Detroit to win. They added an insurance run in the top of the ninth, but Trammell’s big fly, and a complete game effort from Matt Wilcox(12-12), proved to be enough.

Wilcox allowed only one unearned run, that coming in the third, when Larry Herndon muffed a fly off the bat of Gantner, then Robin Yount doubled him in.

Baltimore beat the Yanks, so Detroit stays 2.5 back. The Tigers return home for a brief, three game series against the Indians, before once again, heading out on the road.

Other scores: Boston 4 Cleveland 1; Baltimore 5 N.Y. 3; Toronto 16 Oakland 6.
