September 12th. Game #144. Cleveland 4 Detroit 2
INDIANS PLAY SPOILER; BEAT TIGERS, 4-2.
The Cleveland Indians have 0 chance of the East title, but what they can do, is to ruin other teams chances at capturing the flag.
Last place Cleveland moved in that direction by beating Detroit, 4-2. Baltimore and Boston were rained out, so had they won, the Tigers would have gained a half game, instead, they lose a half game and are now 3 back.
Poor fielding continues to plague Detroit, as Chet Lemon made another crucial, two base error, which led to a pair of unearned runs in the sixth. Gorman Thomas hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth to ice it.
Glenn Abbott(10-12) was the losing pitcher.
There was only one other scheduled game in the A.L. East. N.Y. beat Minnesota 1-0.
