WIN # 22 FOR JACK MORRIS GIVE TIGERS SWEEP OF RED SOX
Jack Morris(22-8) is now one win away from tying the house Strat-O-Matic record for pitcher wins. That mark of 23 wins in a season is shared by Ike De Lock of the ’58 Boston Red Sox and Dennis Lamp of the ’79 Chicago Cubs.
Morris, who will likely get at least 3 more starts, tossed his 14th complete game of the season in the 6-1 win.
Kirk Gibson belted his 10th home run and Glenn Wilson doubled. It was the 19th consecutive game in which Wilson has gotten at least one hit. That is the longest hit streak by a Tiger this year.
Detroit has a scheduled day off tomorrow.
