LEMON’S TWO HOMERS LEAD TIGERS PAST ORIOLES, 8-3

Chet Lemon(24) hit a pair of two run home runs, and also doubled and singled, to lead the Detroit Tigers over the first place Baltimore Orioles by a score of 8-3.

Lemon has distanced himself in the team home run lead.

Dan Petry(18-8) got the win, scattering six hits in a complete game effort. Petry did allow solo homers to Eddie Murray and Dan Ford, but beyond that, had little trouble with the powerful Orioles lineup.

Glenn Wilson collected two hits, to extend his hitting streak to 20 games. Wayne Krenchicki also had a pair of singles on the day.

The Tigers and O’s square off in a double header tomorrow.
