TIGERS COMPLETE 4 GAME SWEEP OF O’S WITH 10-3 DRUBBING.
DETROIT IS NOW JUST A HALF GAME BACK OF BALTIMORE
Over the last four games, the Detroit Tigers couldn’t have done more to help their chances for the division crown. They defeated the first place Baltimore Orioles four straight, ending the series with a decisive, 10-3 win.
Jack Morris(23-8) had statistically one of his worst starts, and in fact, dug a 3 run hole after the first half inning. However, he hung in and battled, twice getting out of significant jams.
Black Jack only went six innings, but as they have done all year, his teammates provided him with furious run support. Chet Lemon scored three times, Trammell and Herndon twice, with Trammell collecting his 15th home run, but the key man at the plate was Glenn Wilson.
The Tiger right fielder extended his hit streak to 22 games, with a triple, two singles and five runs batted in.
The only other game in the division was Cleveland beating Milwaukee, 9-5.
