PETRY BLANKS BOSTON FOR DETROIT’S 9TH STRAIGHT WIN

WILSON’S HIT STREAK ENDS AT 22 GAMES

Dan Petry(19-8) spun a masterful four hit shutout, as Detroit won their ninth game in a row, defeating the Boston Red Sox, 4-0.

However, Glenn Wilson’s hitting streak was snapped today at 22 straight games. He went 0-4. The streak was the longest by a Tiger this season.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, Baltimore beat Milwaukee, so the team stays a half game out of first place.

Allen Trammell had a three hit day and Lance Parrish(19) homered.

Other scores: Baltimore 4 Milwaukee 2; New York 7 Cleveland 4; Oakland 2 Toronto 0.
