BUCS DROP FIRST GAME OF YEAR; LOSE SLUGFEST TO CUBS
The Pirates lost for the first time this season, after a 6-0 start. Chicago beat Pittsburgh, 13-9 at Forbes Field.
Harry Gumbert(0-1) took the loss in relief, after a poor start from Rip Sewell. Rip lasted just two innings, allowing 6 runs on five hits. He also walked three and hit a batter.
Scheffing was the big bopper for Chicago, with a homer, double, three runs scored and five knocked in.
On the Pirates side, Ralph Kiner collected his (6th) home run and Wally Westlake had 3 ribbies.
