REDS TAKE BOTH ENDS OF DOUBLE HEADER AGAINST PIRATES
Cincinnati beat Pittsburgh twice, winning a double header by scores of 4-3 and 5-3.
In the opener, the Pirates jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, thanks to a bases clearing triple by Wally Westlake.
But the Reds would bounce back with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, a three run homer by Wyrostek, the key blow. Rip Sewell(1-1) was the losing pitcher.
The second game also saw the Bucs jump out to an early lead. They got a run in each of the first three innings, including Ralph Kiner’s (7th) home run. But Kiner went from hero to goat, making a key error in the sixth, when Cincinnati scored three times. Ted Kluszewski won it on a sac fly in the eighth.
Murray Dickson(1-2) took the L.
