POOR OFFENSE DOOMS BUCS IN 8-1 LOSS TO GIANTS

One day after ending a five game losing streak, the Pirates are again on the losing end of a ball game, getting trounced by the N.Y. Giants, 8-1.

The Giants were led by Willard Marshall, who had a homer, sac fly and four ribbies; Sid Gordon, who had a triple and two singles, and Whitey Lockman, who had a double and two singles.

Pittsburgh’s lone run came when Ralph Kiner singled and later scored on a Danny Murtaugh ground out.

Cliff Chambers(2-1) was tagged with the loss.

National League scores: Brooklyn 7 Cincinnati 5; St. Louis 3 Philadelphia 2; Boston and Chicago is idle.
