BRAVES TAKE BOTH ENDS OF DOUBLE HEADER FROM PITTSBURGH
The Pirates fell further down in the standings after dropping both games of a twinbill against the Boston Braves. Pittsburgh has now lost five in a row.
Pirate pitching has been horrendous of late. Bill Werle(1-2) lost game one, in which Pittsburgh used four pitchers. Del Crandall led the way for Boston, with a 4-5 day and three runs scored. Al Dark also had three hits.
Bob Chesnes(1-2) was the losing pitcher in the second game. The only bright spot for the Bucs was that Ralph Kiner hit his 9th home run. Eddie Bockman had a double and a triple.
Bob Elliott had a homer and three hits for Boston.
