Ralph Kiner hit his 12th and 13th home runs in the second and sixth innings respectively and also doubled to help lead Pittsburgh past the New York Giants, 3-2.

Wally Westlake added his sixth homer, a solo blast in the fourth.

Powerful Johnny Mize had a rare circuit clout over the right center field wall for the Giants. Rip Sewell(2-3) was the winning pitcher.
