PIRATE COMEBACK FALLS SHORT IN 5-4 LOSS TO BRAVES
Trailing 5-1, Pittsburgh scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh and had runners on second and third with two out, yet failed to score again, therefore falling to Boston, 5-4.
It was the Pirates third straight loss by one run. Losing pitcher, Bill Werle(1-4) dug an early hole, allowing five runs on seven hits. Lombardi and Riddle were able to prevent further scoring but the damage was done.
Wally Westlake(7) homered and singled, while Dan Murtaugh and Clyde McCullough had two hits apiece.
