PIRATES LAND IN CELLAR AFTER BEING SWEPT BY CARDS
The Pittsburgh Pirates have reached the depths of the National League, if only by a hundredth of a percentage point.
Yesterday was the seventh straight loss for the club, who, after being beat four in a row by St. Louis, is now last in the league.
Vic Lombardi(1-1) lost in relief when Red Schoendiest singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
Ralph Kiner’s(17) three run homer in the third accounted for all of the Pirate runs.
