HAL GREER GETS WIN IN RELIEF AND KNOCKS IN WINNING RUN

Pittsburgh’s Hal Greer(3-1) was a one man gang, getting credit for the win in the Pirates 4-3 victory over Boston. Greer also singled in what would prove to be the winning run in the top of the eighth inning.

Dixie Walker and Ed Fitzgerald each had two hits.
