DODGERS PUMMEL PIRATES, 9-3
Led by Carl Furillo, who went 4-4, with a home run, double and two singles, the Brooklyn Dodgers made easy work of the Pirates, in a 9-3 rout.
Furillo had plenty of help, as Robinson, Hermansky and Edwards, all doubled. Duke Snider had two singles. Ralph Branca went the distance for the win.
Ralph Kiner, though he didn’t homer, had a solid day at the plate, with a double and a pair of singles. Bill Werle(2-6) suffered the loss.
