BUCS HOLD OFF DODGERS TO TAKE FINAL GAME OF SERIES, 5-4

Pittsburgh held off a late charge by Brooklyn to take the final game of the series after dropping the first two games.

The Pirates did most of their damage in the sixth inning, when they scored four runs. Ed Stevens had a two run single in that frame, and Ed Fitzgerald had an rbi triple.

Bob Chesnes was the winning pitcher.

Duke Snider homered for Brooklyn.
