DODGERS-PIRATES SET NEW STRAT HOME RUN RECORD WITH 8 IN ONE GAME

The ball was flying out of Forbes Field, as Brooklyn won a 10-8 slugfest in a game featuring eight total home runs.

That sets a new Strat record for home runs in one game by both teams. For the Dodgers, Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snider, Carl Furillo and Billy Cox, all went deep.

Pittsburgh had homers by Dino Restilli(5), Wally Westlake(10), along with two by Ralph Kiner(27,28). It was Kiner’s third multi homer game of the season.

Rip Sewell was rocked early, allowing seven runs over just two innings, but because of pitching rules and the fact that the Pirates battled back, Tiny Bonham(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.

National League scores: Chicago 6 New York 2; St. Louis 8 Boston 4; Philadelphia-Cincinnati rained out.
