BUCS CONTINUE TO HAVE TROUBLE WITH LAST PLACE CUBS
The Chicago Cubs may be in the cellar of the National League, but they continue to cause trouble for Pittsburgh, once again beating the Pirates, 5-3.
Hank Sauer continues to be a thorn in the Bucs side, singling twice, and scoring three runs. Frank Gustine lashed two triples and drove in three runs. Phil Caverretta hit a home run.
For Pittsburgh, Ralph Kiner kept his hitting streak alive at 13 straight games, with a single in the seventh inning. Marty Basgall had a single and a double.
Bill Werle(3-9) continued to struggle, suffering his first loss out of the bullpen. He pitched just one inning, allowing two runs.
