July 22. Gm# 86 Braves Field Pittsburgh 4 Boston 2
A RALPH KINER DOUBLE, AND A LUCKY ROLL FOR RESTELLI
In the first game of the Braves series, the score was 1-1, when Ralph Kiner knocked in the go ahead run in the top of the eighth, with a timely double.
With two out, and Kiner perched on second, up stepped Dino Restelli. Now in Strat, the ballpark effect chart for home runs in Braves Field, circa 1949, for either lefties or righties, is HR-1, Flyball B 1-19.
So of course old Dino rolls a ballpark homer chance……and I hit the one! Two runs cross the plate, and the Pirates hold on for a 4-2 victory.
It was the 9th of the year for Restelli. Elmer Riddle(3-0) earned the W out of the bullpen.
National League scores: St. Louis 3 Brooklyn 1; Chicago 6 New York 5; Philadelphia 2 Cincinnati 1.
