The Pirates managed seven hits, though no runs off New York’s Andy Hansen, who shutout Pittsburgh, 1-0.
Loser, Murray Dickson(4-9) matched up fairly well against Hansen, but gave up the game’s only run in the top of the fourth, when the Giants tagged him for two singles and two walks.
Dickson allowed six hits, while Bill Werle surrendered one in relief. Dickson also issued four free passes, while Hansen did not walk a batter.
