BUCS BEAT GIANTS, 6-4; KINER HOMERS TWICE TO REACH # 40

Slugger Ralph Kiner(39,40) hit a pair of two run homers, as the Pirates defeated the New York Giants, 6-4. Ed Stevens chipped in with two singles and a double.

It was Kiner’s third multiple homer game this season, and the fifth off losing pitcher, Larry Jansen, who has given up more home runs to Ralph than any other National League pitcher.

Bob Chesnes(5-5) sweated out six innings, constantly in and out of trouble, to earn the win.

The Buccos end up taking two out of three from a strong Giants team. They now welcome the Boston Braves to town.

National League scores: Brooklyn 7 Chicago 1; Boston 11 Cincinnati 2; St. Louis 10 Philadelphia 2.
