PIRATES SET SEASON HIGH RUN MARK IN 14-10 WIN OVER DODGERS
Pittsburgh poured on the offense, setting a new season high with 14 runs, as they defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers in a slugfest, 14-10. The game also set a new season high for total runs scored by both teams with 24.

The Buccos got five runs in the bottom of the first off Ralph Branca, and it looked like the rout was on. But Brooklyn refused to fold, getting one run in the second, and four more in the fourth, to tie the game.
Pittsburgh made hay from then on, scoring 3 in the fourth, two in the fifth, two more in the sixth, and a run each in the seventh and eighth.
The club had to withstand one last gasp from the Dodgers, as they scored three runs in the top of the ninth off Hugh Casey, but the Bucs were able to hang on for the win.
