JUNIOR WALSH RETURNS TO BUCS WITH IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE
James “Junior’ Walsh, pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, returned from the disabled list, to make his season debut in fine fashion.
In relief of Rip Sewell, Walsh(1-0) earned the win in a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Junior retired all seven men he faced and for good measure, singled in his only time at the plate.
The Bucs broke a 3-3 tie when Ed Fitzgerald singled in Pete Castigilione in the top of the ninth.
Pittsburgh will look for the sweep, with Murray Dickson on the hill tomorrow.
