Errors by Eddie Bockman and Ralph Kiner, coupled with a two run triple by Hal Jeffcoat and a three run triple by Herman Reich, spelled defeat for the Pirates, who dropped an 8-3 decison to the last place Chicago Cubs.

Vic Lombardi(3-5) started and lost. Tom Saffell got his 2sd home run, but Ralph Kiner’s offensive production continues to decline(he was 1-4 with a single) and now he’s carrying his poor offensive into the field with him.

Pittsburgh will try to play spoiler for Brooklyn, as they host the league leading Cardinals for the next four games, including a scheduled double header.
