BUCS TAKE 3 OF 4 FROM PHILLIES

The Pirates beat the Phillies, 6-3, in the finale of their four game series, of which Pittsburgh won three games.

Tiny Bonham(5-3) won in a spot start appearance. He pitched fairly well, but put the Bucs in a hole early, when he gave up back to back home runs to Willie Jones and Mike Golait in the second inning.

The score was tied 3 all, heading into the seventh. Les Fleming pinch hit for Bonham and got Pittsburgh’s second pinch hit triple in as many days. He later scored Pittsburgh’s fourth run of the day.

Blix Donnelly had a disastrous relief appearance for starter Schoolboy Rowe. Donnelly walked the bases full in the eighth, which led to two more Pirate runs.

Pittsburgh’s next series is at Ebbetts Field against the second place Dodgers.
