WALSH RETURNS TO FORM WITH CG WIN; KINER HITS HR #47
After a couple of shaky outings, Junior Walsh(3-1) again looked like a rookie sensation, tossing a two hit, complete game, 5-1 win over the New York Giants.
A fifth inning solo home run by Bert Haas was the only blemish on Junior’s pitching line.
Ralph Kiner stroked his 47th home run off Sheldon Jones in the top of the third. In doing so, he scored his 99th run of the year, tying the single season Stratball record set by Davey Lopes ’79 L.A.
