KINER SLAMS HR #’S 54 AND 55 TO VAULT BUCS TO VICTORY OVER REDS

Ralph Kiner, star slugger of the Pittsburgh Pirates, was at the top of his game, belting a pair of homeruns(54.55), and also adding a double and a single, for a five rbi day.

It was the fourth time this season that Kiner has hit more than one homer in a game.

It took every bit of Kiner’s heroics, as the Pirates just edged the Reds, 5-4. Bob Chesnes(9-6) ended up with the win, but he allowed a solo homer to Walker Cooper, and then gave up three more runs in the top of the eighth inning.

The Bucs are off tomorrow, then will wrap up the season with a double header against the Reds the following day.
