YANKS BELT FOUR HOMERUNS IN ROUT OF RED SOX
The first inning for Mel Parnell was a sign of things to come. Jerry Coleman doubled, Phil Rizzuto singled, Johnny Lindell hit a three run homer, then Tommy Heinrich followed that with a solo homerun. 4-0 New York.
Boston would battle back, to the extent that Parnell would get a no decision and Eric Johnson(0-1) would take the loss in relief.
Ted Williams(2) hit a homerun. Dom DiMaggio and Birdie Tebbetts each had three hits.
