RED SOX TURN THE TABLES ON WHITE SOX IN 6-1 WIN
Yesterday, Chicago beat Boston, 6-1, with the pale hose collecting 11 hits to the Red Sox’s five.
Today, that score was flip flopped, with Boston having six runs on eleven hits, to Chicago’s one run on five hits. The only difference in today’s game was that each team made two errors, rather than the one each they made in yesterday’s ballgame.
Mickey McDermott(4-1) collected the win in six innings of work, allowing just one unearned run. Vern Stephens(5) went 3-3 with a walk. Birdie Tebbetts slashed a pair of doubles; Johnny Pesky had a single and a triple.
The Red Sox are off tomorrow, then head to Washington to battle the Senators.
Other American League scores: Detroit 2 Washington 1; St. Louis 9 Philadelphia 3. Only other games scheduled.
