1949 Boston Red Sox Replay

May 19. Gm# 27 Fenway Park Boston 6 Chicago 2

BOSTON MAKES IT 5 STRAIGHT WINS; BEATS CHICAGO AGAIN

The surging Red Sox have won their fifth straight game, beating the Chicago White Sox, 6-2.

The Bosox got long balls from DiMaggio(2) and Doerr(3) and doubles from Doerr, Williams, Zarilla and Goodman, in the win.

Winning pitcher, Ellis Kinder(1-2) earned his first complete game and first win of the season. After toiling for nine innings without a run allowed in his last start, Kinder was stuck with a no decision, as Boston could not give him any run support. This time out, Kinder allowed two runs on seven hits, but with Boston’s bats behind him, went the distance for the victory.

The Red Sox welcome the Cleveland Indians to town, starting tomorrow.

Other American League scores: Cleveland 3 New York 2; Detroit 10 Washington 1. Only games scheduled.
