RED SOX PLAY MORE HOME RUN DERBY; TAKE 3 OF 4 FROM DETROIT
Boston poured on the offensive once again, scoring 11 runs over the first three innings, then holding off the Tigers, to win 11-7, taking three out of four in the series.
Ted Williams(13) and Vern Stephens(10) each homered for the second straight day. Birdie Tebbetts(6) also had a long ball.
Despite being tagged for four runs on twelve hits, Joe Dobson(4-2) collected the win on short rest.
Base on balls were the bane of the Tigers, whose four pitchers walked nine batters in this game and 25 total, in the series.
The Red Sox now head to St. Louis, for a three game series with the Browns, who, though they are in last place, always seem to give Boston trouble.
