BOSOX KICK OFF ROAD TRIP WITH SLOPPY, 6-3 WIN
A win is a win, the saying goes, but this one wasn’t pretty. Boston beat the Philadelphia A’s, 6-3, despite two errors on the mound from Walt Masterson(5-2) and Jack Kramer nearly giving the game away in relief.
Kramer relieved Masterson with a 6-1 advantage in the eighth inning. He allowed the A’s two runs, on two singles and two walks, but still managed a save thanks to the big lead.
Dom DiMaggio led the way at the plate, with a 4-5 day. Ted Williams chipped in with a pair of rbi singles.
