Boston got a home run from Bobby Doerr(16) for the second straight day, but could never really get going, as Pat Dobson(4-3) and the rest of the Sox lost, 6-3 to Detroit.
The Tigers’ Vic Wertz, after tying a record with three home runs yesterday, belted another one today.
Johnny Pesky was hit by a pitch from Virgil Trucks in the sixth inning and had to leave the game. He will sit out tomorrow’s double header against Cleveland.
