ELLIS KINER’S COMPLETE GAME WIN LEADS BOSTON TO SERIES SWEEP

Ellis Kinder(8-4) fired a six hit, complete game win, as Boston swept the St. Louis Browns all three games in the latest series between the two clubs.

It went about as expected between a matchup of the first place team in the American League and the last place team. The Browns battled, but their poor pitching and defense were their downfall.

Dom DiMaggio paced the Red Sox offense with three doubles and a single.

The Yanks did their part to aid Red Sox fortunes, losing two of three to Detroit.

Boston continues the longest home stand of the year against the Detroit Tigers.

Other American League scores: Detroit 3 New York 2; Cleveland 6, 14 Washington 3, 1; Chicago at Philadelphia was ppd.
