PARNELL GETS RED SOX BACK ON TRACK
As he has done several times this season, Mel Parnell(16-3) helped his club to a win, right after suffering a bad defeat.
Detroit beat Boston pretty badly yesterday, but today, they bounced back for a 5-3 win over the Tigers.
Parnell had a rough first inning. An error he committed led to a pair of Tiger runs. But Boston answered with two in the third, and a run each in the fourth and fifth. They would tack on an insurance run in the eighth inning.
Johnny Pesky led the offense, going 4-5.
Other A.L. scores: New York 20, 2 St. Louis 2, 2; (2sd Yanks-Browns game finished in 2-2 tie); Philadelphia 5,4 Cleveland 4, 2; Chicago 4, 0 Washington 1, 1
The American League is dark tomorrow, then the Red Sox welcome the Yankees to Fenway for a three game tilt.
