BOSTON COMPLETES SUSPENDED GAME, WINS REGULAR GAME DESPITE ERRORS
The Red Sox completed a game suspended from earlier in the year after six innings, so the team could catch a train. 8-4 was the final, with Chuck Stobbs(6-1) collecting the victory.
In today’s regularly scheduled contest, Boston again beat Washington, but was lucky to do so. They pulled out a 5-4 squeaker, despite Bobby Doerr and Vern Stephens each committing two base errors.
Jack Kramer(6-2)was the winning pitcher, despite working just one inning in relief. Walt Masterson pitched the bottom of the ninth, sporting a five to three lead, but he allowed a one out double, then a two out triple, as the Senators cut the lead to just one run. Masterson was able to get Sam Dente to ground out to end the game.
Other American League scores: New York 7 Philadelphia 3; St. Louis 5 Detroit 1. Only games scheduled.
