RED SOX- WHITE SOX SWAP SHUTOUTS IN LATEST TWINBILL ACTION
Scoring was at a premium as Boston and Chicago took turns white washing each other.
The Red Sox took the opener, 2-0, behind Joe Dobson(8-3), Tex Hughson and Jack Kramer. Al Zarilla tripled and scored on Billy Goodman’s single in the top of the seventh, then added a second run in the top of the ninth, when Birdie Tebbetts drew a bases loaded walk.
The second game saw Bob Kuzsava toss a four hit shutout, to beat Boston, 1-0. Chicago’s lone run came in the bottom of the third on George Metkovich’s sacrifice fly.
Chuck Stobbs(6-2) was the hard luck loser. He also went the distance with out relief, giving up just the one run, on six hits.
Boston has one more game at Comiskey, then heads to Cleveland for a three game series with the Indians, including another double header.
Other American League scores: Cleveland 5 New York 3; Detroit 11 Washington 3; St. Louis 11 Philadelphia 3.
