Boston ace, Mel Parnell(20-6) joined the twenty win club and Ted Williams was a big reason why.

The Red Sox slugger slammed a pair of home runs(42), (43), to lead Boston over Philadelphia, 7-1.

Al Zarilla added his (17th) home run of the season. It was the 11th complete game for Parnell on the year.

Detroit won, to keep pace. New York split a twinbill with Washington. Boston will play a double header against Philadelphia tomorrow.
