N.Y. KEEPS BOSTON AT 99 WINS IN WALK HEAVY SLUGFEST

When a team makes three errors and walks 13 batters in a game, the odds of winning can’t be very good.

However, the New York Yankees defied those odds, winning a 12-8 slugfest, to keep Boston at 99 wins on the season.

Two Stratball records were set. Most total walks in a game by both teams-20 and most walks issued by one team-13.

Hank Bauer hit a grand slam off Joe Dobson in the third inning. Bobby Doerr(23) hit a three run homer, also in the third. Unfortunately, Doerr committed an error in the sixth, which extended an inning in which Tex Hughson(5-6) walked the bases loaded and put the Yankees ahead to stay.

The Red Sox now head to Griffith Stadium for a three game series with the Senators.

There were no other games played in the American League.
