SENATORS KEEP RED SOX STUCK ON 99 GAMES IN WIN COLUMN

The Washington Senators once again defeated the Boston Red Sox, this time, Ray Scarborough went eight innings in a 4-1 win.

Boston has been stuck on 99 wins now, for four games. Their 99 is a new record for wins by a team, beating the ’83 Tigers, who had 98, but they would like to get to 100, a nice round number. They have three more chances, one more game with Washington and two with New York, to close out the season.

Eddie Yost and Al Evans homered for Washington. For Boston, Dom DiMaggio, who had three hits, singled in Billy Goodman in the top of the sixth for the Red Sox only run.

Ellis Kinder(13-6) was the losing pitcher.

Other American League scores: Cleveland 4 Chicago 2; New York 7 Philadelphia 5. Only games scheduled.
