WASHINGTON COMPLETES SWEEP OF BOSTON; SOX HAVE DROPPED 4 IN A ROW

The Washington Senators defeated the Boston Red Sox, 7-6, sweeping the Crimson Hose in a three game series.

Thankfully, Boston built up a big lead in the standings and was able to comfortably clinch the pennant a few days ago, because right now, they are playing their worst ball of the season.

They have lost four straight games, their longest losing streak of the year.

Boston trailed in this one, 7-5, when in the top of the seventh, Ted Williams cut the lead to one with his (49th) home run. Unfortunately, the Red Sox could get no closer.

Jack Kramer(6-4) took the loss.

Boston winds up their season with two games at Yankee Stadium against the New York Yankees.

Other American League games: Cleveland 6 Detroit 4; Philadelphia 4 New York 1. Only games scheduled.
