1960 Pittsburgh Pirates Replay

April 23. Gm# 10. Forbes Field Milwaukee 12 Pittsburgh 5

BRAVES THROTTLE PIRATES, 12-5

The Milwaukee Braves handled Pittsburgh with ease, handing the Bucs a 12-5 mashing. Pittsburgh scored the first two runs of the game in a sloppy, error filled contest, but the Braves exploded for five runs in the fourth and six more runs in the fifth inning.

Dick Stuart, Bill Mazeroski and Bill Virdon each made crucial errors which led to runs. Maz had three hits, including two doubles, but it couldn’t make up for his fielding miscues which led to four unearned runs in the top of the fifth.

Bennie Daniels(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.

The series concludes tomorrow, as the Pirates try to salvage one game of the series. It’ll be a challenge, because Pittsburgh will be putting their Sunday lineup on the field. That means it consists of largely bench players.

Other National League scores: Chicago 9 San Francisco 4; Philadelphia 9, 4 Cincinnnati 5, 10; St. Louis 7 Los Angeles 2
