DICK STUART LEADS OFFENSE AS BUCS WIN SERIES FROM GIANTS
Dick Stuart had a single, double and homerun(5), to lead Pittsburgh to a 4-3 win and a two games to one series win over San Francisco.
Once again there was drama in the ninth inning. Vinegar Bend Mizell(4-0) won, to remain unbeaten, however after dominating most of the way, he stumbled and surrendered two runs in the final inning.
Elroy Face relieved Mizell and after getting two quick outs, was tagged by Orlando Cepeda for a solo homer, his second blast of the series.
The Pirates did a great job holding Willie Mays in check. The all star centerfielder was just 1 for 12 in the series with a triple in game one.
Now it’s off to Los Angeles to face some great pitching and speed on the basepaths against the Dodgers.
Other National League scores: Cincinnati 5 St. Louis 2; Philadelphia 4 Los Angeles 2; Milwaukee-Chicago ppd wet grounds.
