May 14. Gm# 26. County Stadium Milwaukee 9 Pittsburgh 8 13 innings
BRAVES BEAT PIRATES 9 TO 8, IN 13 INNINGS
Milwaukee finally put Pittsburgh away after 13 long innings, when Bill Bruton and Eddie Mathews each doubled in the final frame. Fred Green(2-2) was sacked with the defeat. Green was the fifth Pirate pitcher of the game. The Braves also went through five hurlers.
Dick Stuart(7) homered for Pittsburgh, while Henry Aaron went deep for the Braves.
The two teams have a double header tomorrow and the exhausted teams will probably empty their benches for the first game, in order to give some of the regulars who played in this marathon game, a break.
Harvey Haddix will face Warren Spahn in game one. Both starters will look to go deep in the game, in an effort to give the bullpens some needed rest.
